| Brief Bio | Me. . .What can I say? Music on the whole was a strong influence in my family, especially my bigger brother who owned a sound system in (Trinidad). I started going to parties since I was 12. Sneaking out at every opportunity I got until my mom finally persuaded my brother to let me accompany him but only on weekends. Believe me carrying DJ boxes ain't an easy work. And that was the consequences I had to suffer until I got a chance to start a party one night because my brother and the other DJ's arrived late. It was. . . a disaster and also a learning experience. Music is not an easy thing to interpret. That was the early years of my first try at music. After that I continued to pursue my studies in school, right up to CXC and GCE. In the meantime my brother had other plans , he sold the sound system and joined the police force which left me wondering if I should continue pursuing music. It was only when I came back to Grenada in 2001 to live with my mom that I met Gary "Mr. Smooth" under some strange circumstances. And after a long tedious task of understudying and understanding the basic rudiments of the DJ industry I finally got a break on City Sound fm in April 2002. It was a brief stint filling in for announcers when they could not make it. I finally landed a spot from 8pm - 12am where I did a program called "Slow Jams inside of Cruise Time." While in City Sound I got the opportunity to meet artists and Dj's like Elephant Man, Ninja Man, Tanya Stephens, Merciless, Bunji Garlin, Beenie Man, A V St. Hill, The Empress Tamara, Shot Master J, Dr Hyde, Rodney King, C Wyle and the list goes on. Some of my major influences were DJ's like Dr Hyde, Rodney King and believe it or not Grenada's very own "Bain Junior" whom I would say is by far one of the most versatile Mic man and Dj that I looked up to when I had the chance to play alongside him in Fantazia for 2 years. Which brings me to DJ Simon aka "Apachie Scrachie." Can't really remember how we met but once again through Gary. And from then on it was history. Having the pleasure of working alongside perhaps the craftiest an most spontaneous DJ from then till now is a blessing. |
